Rural Schools Welfare (Schools Development Programme)

As a part of educational services, the Math has taken up a programme to provide assistance to the poor school children studying in Govt. Primary and High Schools in the villages. Under this scheme, schools children are provided with Sanitation Facilities, Uniforms, School bags, Notebooks and Writing materials.

Children are taught prayers, general hygiene and are introduced to teachings of Swami Vivekananda.

In the current financial year (2012), 16,924 students from 190 schools situated in 145 villages covering 6 taluk have been benifited.

In the financial year (2011), 15,130 students from 144 schools have been benifited.

From this scheme, in the financial year (2010), 14,532 students from 110 schools and in the year 2009, 14,291 students from 120 schools have been benifited.

Running this activity for the students costs us around Rs.20,00,000/- per annum. The expenditures are met through the public contribution.

Rural Coaching Centres

In order to motivate the students studying in Govt. Primary and High Schools in rural areas, for the last 8 years, the Math in running Coaching Centers in 15 villages of Kanakapura Taluk, Bangalore Rural District.

Venue of the tuition class is either the school or temple or such suitable place in the village. Coaching is given during non-schooling hours (5 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.). A paid teacher is appointed by the Math to guide them in their studies. Math is providing school uniform, note books, stationeries, etc. to all the children. Educated Rural youths are selected as teachers.

Total number of students being benefited by this scheme are 700.

Also a Free tuition Center in the Ashrama Premises is conducted for poor students (for 8th, 9th and 10th Std) between 4:30 PM and 6:00 PM. The estimated expenditure for the current year is: Rs.6,00,000.
