Śrīmad Bhāgavata
Śrīmad Bhāgavata Purānam also known as Śrīmad Bhāgavatam, or Bhāgavata is one of the “18 Mahapurana texts” of Vedic Culture and Teachings. A Classical work in Sanskrit language – a Treasure house of Vedanta Philosophy, human psychology and Divine plays of the Lord – Written by Veda Vyasa Rishi. The text comprises twelve skandas (cantos or books) with 335 chapters and some 18,000 verses with its primary focus on devotion to the Lord.
Bhagavan Sri Ramakrishna was very much fond of this Prema Shastram (Love-Scripture) and had a vision that the Bhagavatam is Lord Krishna himself. It teaches the humanity, how to love the entire creation and the creator unconditionally.
Longing to hear of the glory of the Lord before death, King Parikshit requested the Sage Śukacharya recites the Bhāgavatam to him in seven days. The Bhāgavatam takes the form of a story recounting Veda Vyasa’s work being recited for the first time by his son Sage Śukacharya to the dying King Parikshit, who owes his life to the Lord Krishna.
The Bhāgavatam includes many stories well known in Vedic tradition, including the various manifestations of the Lord. It was the first Purana to be translated into a European language, with three French translations.

Bhagvad Gita -Introduction
Bhagavad Gita also referred to as Gita, is the most popular Hindu Scripture known all the world. This one book contains the essence of all the Vedas. It is the best summary of the Upanishadic teachings.
Gita, containing 700 verses, is a part of the ancient Sanskrit epic Mahabharata written by Veda Vyasa Rishi. In this text we find Vedanta philosophy, human psychology, and all the aspects of human life and goals.
Swami Vivekananda says, “The teachings of Krishna as taught by the Gita are the grandest the world has ever known. He who wrote that wonderful poem was one of those rare souls whose lives sent a wave of regeneration through the world. The human race will never again see such a brain as his who wrote the Gita.” (CW, Vol. VII. Page 22)
The context of the Gita is a conversation between Lord Krishna and the Pandava prince Arjuna taking place in the middle of the battlefield before the start of the Kurukshetra War with armies on both sides ready to battle. Responding to Arjuna’s confusion and moral dilemma about fighting his own cousins, who command a tyranny imposed on a disputed empire, Lord Krishna explains to Arjuna his duties as a warrior and prince, and elaborates on principles of human life.
